The absolute best girlfriends get away is:

Palm Springs

1. It's an easy drive (if you want).
2. I like to stay at the Marriott Desert Springs Villas
3. They sleep up to 8 and it is walking distance to the Marriott Hotel.
4. PS has great food.
5. PS has great shopping with an outlet mall (one of the best in the world)
less than 1/2 hour away. True outlets include: Gucci, Georgio Armani, Dior, YSL, St. John, Theory, Burberry, Prada, Barneys, Saks off 5th, Cole Hahn, L'Occitane, plus many many more....oh yeah Ralph Lauren Black Label.
6. Thursday night is the Palm Springs downtown walk. We usually go to dinner downtown on the street, then look at all of the artist's stands and have more street food.
7. Sat/Sun is College of the Dessert Flea Market. Lots of interesting stuff from art work to food to clothes.
8. If you need a vacation from your vacation LA is only 2 hours away with Rodeo and great celebrity ridden restaurants. I usually book a restaurant where I know for sure I will see a star! Silly but fun.
9. Of course there is always golf or just laying by the pool. It usually takes a week to pack all of the in!!!

Second best girlfriends getaway:

Punta Mita, Mexico at the Four Seasons
5 Star all the way! Fly into Puerto Vallarta and take the shuttle 45 minutes north.
I usually find a special at the four seasons $325 a night/4th night free and split the room with 2 other girls. They only allow 3 to a room.

We eat at the hotel one night, have a heart attack at the cost and then hire a taxi for $7 to take us 5 minutes to mexican owned restaurants across the peninsula. The meals are wonderful and cost about $20 per person or less. Of course they have great margaritas and coronas for cheap but I like to bring my own wine from the USA. You are allowed 3L per person.

Great shopping in PV for silver and of course the mandatory prescription drug run! We like to go into PV for one evening of shopping and a great little restaurant on the beach
